This policy explains what personal data Locksmith Cheap UK collects, why we hold it, how long we keep it, and what you can require us to do with it. It covers calling us, browsing this website, and having work carried out.
1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data
UK Local Today Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 13835428, registered office 13 Oak Tree Dell, London, England, NW9 0AB, trading as Locksmith Cheap UK, is the data controller. That means we decide what is collected and why, and we are answerable for it.
Contact us about anything on this page by email at office@locksmith-cheap.co.uk, or by phone on 0333 344 6467 at any hour.
2. What We Collect
When you call or send an enquiry we take your name, the phone number you are calling from, the address the work is needed at, and what has happened to the door or lock. We need all four to send the right person with the right equipment to the right place.
When work is carried out we record what was done, which parts were fitted, the price agreed and the date, because the 12-month guarantee and our accounting obligations both depend on that record.
When you browse this website, and only if you accept, we receive analytics and advertising measurement data through Google. What that involves is set out in our cookie policy. If you reject, none of it is collected.
We do not collect special category data. Please do not send us health, financial or identity documents unless we specifically ask for them in relation to a job.
3. Why We Are Allowed to Hold It
UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for every use of personal data. Ours are:
- Performance of a contract — arranging and carrying out the work you booked, and dealing with anything arising from it, including the guarantee.
- Legal obligation — keeping financial records for the period tax law requires.
- Legitimate interests — keeping a record of what was agreed and done so that a later dispute can be resolved fairly on evidence rather than recollection. We consider this proportionate because the records are limited to the job itself.
- Consent — analytics and advertising cookies only. Nothing in this category happens unless you accept, and you may withdraw at any time through Cookie settings at the foot of any page.
4. Who Else Sees It
The locksmith attending your job receives your name, address, phone number and a description of the work. Our telephone and IT suppliers process data in the course of running those systems. Google processes website analytics and advertising measurement data where you have consented. Our accountant sees invoice records.
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for anyone else's marketing, and we do not pass it to third parties for any purpose beyond those listed above unless the law requires it.
5. Data Leaving the UK
Google processes some analytics and advertising data outside the UK, including in the United States. Those transfers rely on the safeguards Google puts in place for the purpose, being the UK addendum to the standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision covering the destination. If you reject analytics and advertising cookies, no such transfer takes place.
6. How Long We Keep It
Job and invoice records are kept for six years from the end of the financial year they fall in, which is the period tax law requires. Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted within twelve months. Complaint correspondence is kept for six years from resolution. Analytics data is retained on Google's schedule as described in our cookie policy.
7. Your Rights
You may ask us to tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy; correct anything inaccurate; delete data we no longer have a reason to keep; restrict what we do with it while a dispute is resolved; provide it in a portable form; or object to processing we carry out under legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time, and doing so does not affect anything done beforehand.
Email office@locksmith-cheap.co.uk to exercise any of these. We respond within one month. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not hand your data to somebody else.
We do not make automated decisions about you and we do not profile you.
8. If You Are Not Satisfied
Tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. Complaining to us does not remove that right.
9. Changes
The version published here is the one in force. Where a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will say so on this page rather than change it quietly.
