This page explains which cookies this website sets, what each one is for, and how to change your choice. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which covers personal data more broadly.
1. What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work or to remember a choice you made. Others measure how the site is used, or record whether an advert led to a call. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, everything in the second group needs your consent before it is set.
2. Your Choice, and How to Change It
When you first arrive, a banner asks whether you accept analytics and advertising cookies. Nothing in those two categories is set until you choose. If you reject, we still receive basic, anonymous information about the visit that carries no cookie and cannot identify you.
Your choice is stored for six months, after which we ask again. You can change it at any point by selecting Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, or by deleting cookies through your browser settings.
3. Strictly Necessary
One cookie falls in this category and it is the record of your own decision, without which we would have to ask on every page.
lc_consent — set by this website. Stores whether you accepted or rejected, which version of this policy you were shown, and when. Lasts six months. This cookie is not used to track you and is not shared with anyone.
4. Analytics — Only If You Accept
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read, how they arrived, and where they give up. It tells us that a page is not working; it does not tell us who you are.
_ga and _ga_… — set by Google Analytics to distinguish one visitor from another and to group page views into a single visit. Typically last up to two years.
5. Advertising — Only If You Accept
We advertise on Google, and these cookies tell us whether an advert led to a call. Without them we are paying for adverts with no way of knowing which ones work.
_gcl_au and related Google Ads cookies — set by Google to link a click on one of our adverts to a later enquiry. Typically last up to 90 days.
We also use Google Tag Manager to load these tags. Tag Manager does not set cookies of its own; it is the mechanism that loads the ones above, and it respects your choice.
6. How Your Choice Reaches Google
We use Google's Consent Mode, which means your decision is passed to Google's tags directly. Until you accept, those tags are told not to store anything on your device, and they behave accordingly rather than being blocked after the fact.
7. Cookies We Do Not Set
This site carries no social media pixels, no advertising networks other than Google, no chat widgets and no third-party fonts or scripts loaded from outside our own site. Nothing on these pages profiles you for anyone else's advertising.
