A lock change is one of the simplest, most cost-effective security steps you can take, and it comes up for a handful of very ordinary reasons: moving into a new home, a lost or stolen key, the end of a tenancy, or simply wanting a more secure cylinder than what's currently fitted. Whatever the reason, the process is largely the same — confirm what's fitted now, agree what it's being changed to, and fit it, usually in one visit.

Moving home is the single most common reason people call. You can't know how many keys were cut over the years for previous owners, tenants, cleaners or tradespeople, so changing the locks before you move your things in removes that uncertainty entirely for a modest cost.

For landlords and letting agents, changing or re-keying locks between tenancies is standard practice, and we can turn this around quickly between move-out and move-in. Which lock type applies depends on the door: uPVC and composite doors typically use a euro cylinder as part of a multi-point mechanism, while older timber doors are more likely to have a mortice lock, sometimes alongside a separate cylinder night latch. We carry stock for both, so mixed doors on the same property aren't a problem.

A lock change is also a natural moment to upgrade rather than just replace like-for-like — moving from a standard euro cylinder to an anti-snap, British Standard version costs little extra at the point of a change and is worth considering whenever a cylinder is already being swapped out.
